The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) reviewed the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and key developmental challenges in Wokha district on Tuesday, with Member of Parliament and DISHA Chairperson S. Supongmeren Jamir assuring that issues raised by various departments would be taken up at higher levels.

The meeting, held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall and co-chaired by Deputy Commissioner K. Mhathung Tsanglao, assessed departmental progress, the impact of government schemes and implementation challenges.
The Agriculture, Labour and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services departments presented reports on their programmes and achievements.
District Agriculture Officer Renathung Kikon highlighted the National Mission on Natural Farming and the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP), under which 243 hectares across 14 villages have been brought under oil palm cultivation. He cited the need for a separate sub-division in Ralan Block due to its difficult accessibility and highlighted challenges in Aadhaar seeding, authentication and NPCI mapping for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Assistant Labour Commissioner Neimenuo reported that the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board has registered 1,788 workers, with 763 active beneficiaries. During 2025-26, the board settled eight death claims, awarded scholarships to 630 beneficiaries and provided maternity, medical and tool grant benefits. She also noted low coverage under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation and Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation and said awareness and registration drives would be intensified.
Chief Veterinary Officer K.N. Zubemo Humtsoe said Wokha faces an annual meat deficit of 1,649.55 metric tonnes valued at about Rs 36.64 crore. He highlighted the Livestock Insurance Scheme under the National Livestock Mission and reported that the Artificial Insemination Technology programme has produced 1,350 piglets from 165 inseminations with an 81 per cent success rate. He also informed the meeting that the recent African Swine Fever outbreak caused 374 pig deaths and losses estimated at Rs 1.04 crore.
The meeting also discussed BSNL connectivity for Census 2027, post office infrastructure, vacant Gramin Dak Sevak posts and agricultural credit. Jamir assured departments that their concerns would be pursued with the appropriate authorities.
