The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has forecast localized thunderstorms, lightning and intermittent rainfall across several districts of the state between July 15 and 18, with Longleng and Mon districts likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall on Wednesday.

According to a weather advisory issued by the NSDMA on Tuesday, localized thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rainfall are expected in several districts on July 15, while moderate to heavy rainfall is likely at a few places in Longleng and Mon. The authority has advised residents in these districts to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions.

On July 16, weather conditions are expected to improve across most parts of the state. However, light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places in Kohima, Noklak, Peren, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto districts, with scattered intermittent rainfall also expected in Noklak and Zunheboto.

The NSDMA said localized thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rainfall are likely to return on July 17, affecting Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Noklak, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto districts. Residents, particularly those living in areas vulnerable to landslides and waterlogging, have been advised to exercise caution.

Similar weather conditions are expected to persist on July 18, with localized thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall forecast over Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto districts. Light rainfall is also likely at a few places in Kiphire, Noklak, Peren, Phek and Shamator districts.

The NSDMA has urged citizens to stay updated through official weather forecasts and advisories and to monitor the NSDMA Weather website and the SAFER Nagaland App for real-time weather information.
