The Rotary Club of Kohima held its 24th installation ceremony on July 17 at Hotel Japfü, installing its new Board of Directors for the Rotary Year 2026-27.
MLA and Advisor to the Chief Minister for SCERT and Food Processing, Achumbemo Kikon, attended the programme as the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed the need for environmental responsibility and urged people to move away from shortsighted consumerism.
“The present generation has essentially borrowed the earth from future generations,” Kikon said. “We must remain deeply mindful of the environmental footprint we leave behind for our children.” He called on Rotarians to lead conservation efforts and promote environmental awareness within communities.
The club also inducted Kikon as an honorary member in recognition of his public service and commitment to Rotary’s ideals.
Rtn. Dr. Rosemary Dzüvichü, Charter President and Club Advisor, installed the new leadership headed by President Rtn. Dr. Keneilhoulie Medom. Four new regular members were also inducted into the club. Presenting the club’s vision for the year, Dr. Medom said the new board would focus on community outreach, women’s empowerment, youth development, cross-cultural collaboration and peace-building.
The programme included the presentation of the club’s annual report, certificates to 20 women trained under its tailoring programme during 2025-26, and a valedictory address by outgoing president Rtn. Kevino Savino. Members of the Rotary Club of Dimapur also attended the ceremony.
