The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympics Association (NOA), Department of Youth Resources & Sports (DYRS) and Government of Nagaland, will conduct an Open State Level Trial Selection for wrestlers in Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Women’s Wrestling on August 18 in Kohima.
The trial will begin at 9 am, with participants required to report at the venue one hour before the scheduled start. The selection is open to eligible bona fide residents of Nagaland from across the state who meet the prescribed age and weight requirements and are physically fit to participate.
In Senior Men’s Freestyle, trials will be conducted in the 57 kg, 65 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg categories. Greco-Roman trials will cover 60 kg, 67 kg, 77 kg, 87 kg, 97 kg and 130 kg, while Women’s Wrestling will have competitions in the 50 kg, 53 kg, 57 kg, 62 kg, 68 kg and 76 kg categories.
Interested wrestlers are required to submit their name, age, gender and weight to 8787538827, 9862778564 or 7005104434 on or before August 15. Affiliated and provisional units of the NWA have also been asked to submit lists of wrestlers according to the specified categories by the deadline.
The selected wrestlers will undergo a High-Performance Residential Training Camp in Kohima from August 20 to September 30. This will be followed by a State Level Championship-cum-selection trial.
Wrestlers selected from the state championship will then undergo an Advanced National Level Training Camp at National Training Centres outside Nagaland from October 2026 to February 2027. A final trial will subsequently select one wrestler in each category to represent Nagaland at the National Games 2027, scheduled for March 2027 in Meghalaya, with wrestling being co-hosted by Nagaland.
The final selected wrestlers will undergo a Competition Preparation Camp in Kohima in March 2027 until the conclusion of the Games.
The NWA said the notification supersedes its earlier circular dated July 10 regarding the Wrestling Coaching Camp.
