The premiere of Fallen Rise, a bilingual feature film in Angami and Assamese, was held at Hotel Vivor, Kohima, on Saturday. The film has been produced by Hillock Films in association with Nagaland-based Golden Signature.
Advisor for School Education, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, who attended the premiere as the honoured dignitary, congratulated Hillock Films and Golden Signature for their collaboration.
Reflecting on the film’s title, Fallen Rise, Yhome said the combination of opposite words represented a deeper societal theme. He noted that Naga society had undergone significant transformation from its traditional culture and head-hunting past to modernity through the influence of Christianity and education.
Yhome expressed hope that the film would gain recognition beyond the premiere and make its way to national and international film festivals and competitions.
Director Joon Khound shared his journey of making the film, saying he had initially planned to produce full-length movies for international film festivals. However, the projects required substantial budgets, leading him to develop a story centred on ambitious students who travel from different places to cities in pursuit of higher education.
He said Fallen Rise was shot across Nagaland and Assam and that its release was delayed by several difficulties, obstacles and challenges encountered during production.
Cast Director Zapusazo Sirie said filming began in October 2022. He said the production team gained valuable experiences of village and city life, as well as the cultures, customs, traditions and religious practices of the communities.
Sirie also acknowledged the Mezoma Village Council and residents for allowing filming in the village and participating in the movie.
