Nagaland Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir has been elected as a member of the Lok Sabha to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati.

The election was held following a motion adopted by the Lok Sabha on July 28 to elect one of its members to AIIMS Guwahati. According to Lok Sabha Bulletin No. 5973 dated August 7, two nominations were initially received, but one candidate subsequently withdrew. With only one candidate remaining for the single vacancy, Jamir was declared elected.
The vacancy arose following the resignation of former Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi.
Jamir said he would seek to contribute towards the development of AIIMS Guwahati and strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the Northeast, with a focus on accessible healthcare, medical education, research and healthcare facilities.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat communicated his election to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare on August 10.
