The Department of Linguistics at Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, organised a two-day international workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Preservation of Indigenous Languages: Challenges and Opportunities.”

Workshop on ‘AI and Digital Preservation

The workshop brought together linguists, technologists and policy practitioners to examine technological approaches to language documentation and digital access, as well as interdisciplinary strategies for scaling up indigenous language preservation.

A total of 90 participants from various colleges and departments of Nagaland University attended the workshop.

The resource persons included Dr Prasanna Ramakrishnan, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia; Vijayakumar Krishnan, Senior Data & Analytics Consultant, Chennai, India; Olga V. Glukhova, Associate Professor, Rostov State University of Economics (Rostov Institute of National Economy), Rostov-on-Don, Russia; Dr Soo Koung Jun, Associate Professor, College of General Education, Namseoul University, Cheonan-si, Chungnam, South Korea; and Er. Saranya Muthusamy, Chief Executive Officer, Bonfring Consulting Services, India.
