The Department of Information Technology, Nagaland University, organised a “Talk on Entrepreneurship” on August 25, offering students practical insights into entrepreneurship, financial planning, investment and career development.

Entrepreneurship talk at Nagaland University focuses on financial literacy, career development

The session was delivered by Er. Dhiraj Kalita of DK Tech Pvt. Ltd., Guwahati. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Sujata Dash, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, Nagaland University, in the presence of faculty members of the Department of Information Technology.

Addressing the gathering, Dash encouraged students to make the most of such interactive sessions and develop the knowledge and skills required to succeed in a rapidly changing professional environment.

Kalita discussed financial literacy, professional value addition, sources of income, investment opportunities and effective financial planning. He also highlighted government schemes and subsidies available to aspiring entrepreneurs, explaining how students and young professionals could utilise these opportunities to establish start-ups and companies.

He encouraged students to continuously upgrade their knowledge, skills and professional capabilities to remain employable and adaptable to changing industry requirements. He particularly urged them to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and strive to become “job givers rather than merely job seekers.”

The session also focused on preparing students for the emerging marketplace, with Kalita stressing the importance of innovation, financial awareness and career preparedness. Students actively interacted with the resource person and explored entrepreneurship and innovation as potential career pathways.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Er. Shanchamo Yanthan, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, Dean, faculty members and participants.

The department said it remains committed to organising programmes that equip students with knowledge, skills and confidence to meet future challenges and contribute meaningfully to society.
