Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Chairman of the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland, Abu Metha, attended the Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) Nagaland Felicitation programme held at Walo Guest House, Mon Town, on August 31.
Addressing the gathering, Metha said the programme was significant for musicians and the music fraternity of Mon and acknowledged their contribution to the State’s cultural landscape. Assuring the gathering of the government’s support, he said Mon was “the most important district” when it came to music and arts.
Metha also highlighted the district’s contributions to content creation, sports and music. He noted that Konyaks were among the leading content creators in the State and appreciated their creativity, innovation and efforts to disseminate information. He said Mon had produced several talented footballers and athletes, with many representing Nagaland in different sporting disciplines. He expressed optimism that Konyak sportspersons would gain opportunities to represent the country and serve the nation in various fields.
Highlighting TaFMA’s activities, including workshops, seminars and festivals, Metha said the Hornbill Festival Mon Extension was an important attraction and encouraged the people to make the 2026 edition “bigger, larger” with greater participation and a stronger creative economy.
“Nagaland will not rise if all sections of Naga society don’t rise,” he said, adding that the people of Mon were not backward, although the region faced socioeconomic and infrastructure-related challenges.
Metha thanked TaFMA District Partner, Mon, for organising the programme and felicitated beneficiaries Monglong T of Longphoah Village and Wangkhao Issac of Angjangyang Village with gifts from TaFMA.
The programme was chaired by H Samuel Konyak, TaFMA District Partner, Mon. DC Mon Wennyei Konyak delivered the welcome address, while special numbers were presented by Gabriel Konyak, Issac Wangkhao and Aman N Konyak. Vote of thanks was delivered by Adu Keditsu, Manager, Electronic and Power, TaFMA.
