The 9th Biennial Interschool Football Tournament, organised by the Medziphema Town Students’ Union, commenced at the Local Ground, Medziphema Town, on September 7.
Eleven teams, including seven in the High School section and four in the Higher Secondary section, are competing for the two trophies. Viphrulie Krose attended the opening ceremony as special guest, along with school heads, community leaders and NGO representatives.
In the opening matches, Government Higher Secondary School defeated King David Higher Secondary School 6-0, while Modern Christian School beat Rivenburgh School 8-2. St. Francis de Sales Higher Secondary School recorded a 7-1 victory over Assam Rifles Public School. An exhibition match between GMS Medziphema (Kuki) and GMS Medziphema Town ended in favour of the latter.
On September 8, St. Francis de Sales Higher Secondary School will face King David Higher Secondary School, while Modern Christian School will meet Chakhroma Baptist Mission School.
