Forge Warriors, a youth-driven fitness community, will organise its first arm wrestling tournament on September 12 at Alichen Police Ground, with the event aimed at promoting fitness, strength sports and sportsmanship among youth.

The organisers said the tournament seeks to spread awareness about the importance of fitness in today’s lifestyle and encourage young people to lead active and healthy lives. They also said the initiative is intended to create platforms for sports disciplines beyond mainstream games and provide opportunities for local talent to be identified and developed.

The competition will be held in three weight categories: below 65 kg, 65 kg to 80 kg, and 80 kg and above. Winners in each category will receive cash prizes, trophies and certificates, while the first runners-up will receive cash prizes and certificates. All participants will be presented with appreciation certificates.

A special finale tug-of-war competition will also be held as part of the event. Registration for the tug of war will be free, with each team comprising nine members, including four substitutes.

Registration for the arm wrestling tournament is open at a fee of Rs 300, with September 10 as the last date for registration. Interested participants can contact 8119028116 or 7085183640.

Pre-match highlights will be available on YouTube at @LKRVlogs-y7c.

Forge Warriors president Limasunep Lkr said the tournament was intended to promote perseverance, strength and discipline. “Through this tournament we want to keep the flame of fitness alive and inspire every individual to embrace strength, discipline and wellness,” he said.
