Organisation demands resignations, warns of mass protest

The Nagaland Transparency Public Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organization – People’s Justice (NTPRADAO-PJ) has demanded the resignation of Minister Temjen Imna Along and Advisor S Keoshu Yimchunger over the ongoing controversy surrounding the Mangkolemba Multi-purpose Hall.

In a press release issued on October 4, the organisation said it had taken “serious note” of the matter and expressed support for the nine-point resolution adopted by Mangkolemba civil society organisations and submitted to the Additional Deputy Commissioner.

NTPRADAO-PJ cited what it termed an “apparent moral failure” and alleged “mis-use of government machinery with wrongful intention” in demanding the resignation of the minister and advisor.

The organisation also warned that it would mobilise hundreds of volunteers for a mass protest if, in its assessment, the government failed to take appropriate action on the matter.

It said the proposed movement would continue until the issue was “resolved logically and officially” in accordance with the demands of the Mangkolemba CSOs.

Drawing a comparison with the NEET examination controversy, NTPRADAO-PJ referred to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and invoked the principle of resignation on “moral grounds”.

The organisation also described the current mobilisation among Nagaland’s youth as a “Gen-Z political awakening”, saying young people were anxious for positive change.

NTPRADAO-PJ said it would continue to monitor developments surrounding the Mangkolemba Multi-purpose Hall controversy.
