MGM College, Dimapur, organised a workshop on “Academic Writing and AI Tools for Research” on 3 October to strengthen research and academic writing skills among faculty members.

The programme was chaired by Lopilo P. Yanthan, Head of the Department of Commerce. Dr R. K. Behera, Principal, delivered the welcome address, while the invocation was led by Ahikali I. Jakha, Head of the Department of English.

The resource session was conducted by Dr Wapanginla Ao, Dean of Management Studies and IQAC Coordinator, C-Edge College. Drawing from her academic and research experience, she provided an overview of the research process, from identifying a research problem and reviewing literature to writing and publishing research papers.

Dr Ao encouraged faculty members to engage consistently in research, emphasising that academic writing skills develop through regular practice, perseverance and continuous learning. She also shared reflections from her PhD journey and highlighted the importance of choosing an appropriate research area and maintaining focus.

The workshop also emphasised the responsible and purposeful use of AI tools in academic research and writing.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Jemsungba Walling, IQAC Coordinator, and benediction by Mhonlumo T. Tsopoe.
