The Joint Action Committee (JAC) on the Kohima–Jessami road along NH-29 has set October 30 as the deadline for Ratna Infrastructure Project Ltd. to mobilise the required machinery and materials to the site, warning that it may initiate further action if the company fails to honour its assurance.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the JAC held at the Red Cross Building in Kohima on October 14, attended by representatives of Chakhesang frontal organisations, the Pochury, Sangtam and Angami communities, as well as a village representative from Kezoma.

According to the JAC, the meeting expressed strong resentment over what it described as the continued negligence of Ratna Infrastructure Project Ltd. and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) in addressing the grievances of affected people.

In its first resolution, the committee stated that Ratna Infrastructure Project Ltd. had given a written assurance to mobilise all required machinery and materials to the site on or before October 30.

The JAC warned that failure to fulfil the assurance would compel it to initiate appropriate action, adding that the company would be responsible for any consequences arising from such action.

In a second resolution, the committee decided to write to the Executive Director of NHIDCL and the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for Package-I, urging them to immediately repair the damaged road stretch in accordance with the terms of the contract agreement.

The resolutions were issued by JAC convenor Vivolie Kezo.
