When Doors Are Closed, Keep Walking

When things don’t go as we planned,

And dreams slip slowly from our hand,

When every door appears shut tight,

And darkness seems to swallow light,

Still, lift your eyes and breathe a prayer-

For life itself is grace and mercy rare.

Be grateful for the breath you take,

For every dawn that God does make;

For tho’ the road may twist and bend,

Almighty’s grace is with us to the end.

Each morning that we rise and see

Is one more gift He offers us freely.

Perhaps the door is closed today,

Not because He has turned away;

Perhaps He sees what we cannot,

And knows the things we know not.

The God who shaped the stars above

Still guides our steps in perfect love.

So trust the Wisdom that designed

The vast expanse of space and time;

He who formed the earth and sea,

Who brought us here intentionally.

We were not born by chance or fate-

Our lives were planned ere the gate.

His purpose, pleasure, sovereign will,

Can work through valleys dark and still.

What seems like loss, what feels unfair,

May hide our blessings waiting there.

And tho’ the answer may be late,

His timing never comes too late.

When others leave and turn away,

When faith in us begins to sway,

When those who once believed in us

Grow tired and leave without a fuss,

Hold on—for God remains nearby;

His promises and love will ne’er die.

He’ll not leave, He’ll not forsake,

Nor abandon the hearts t’at ache.

When human hands no longer stay,

His everlasting arms won’t stray.

When every earthly hope is gone,

His faithful presence carries on.

So keep on living; breathe deep and pray,

Take one more step, then one more day.

You need not see now the whole design;

Just trust heavens and Architect divine.

The Author knows how stories end,

And broken chapters He can mend.

Doors may close; let ‘em be closed.

Perhaps there’s another path posed.

What God has destined will arrive

At the appointed season and time.

No human doubt, no closed-off gate

Can overturn what He has made.

So cherish life, this sacred breath,

Thru’ joy and sorrow, life and death.

For every heartbeat thru’ every day,

Is grace enough to make you stay.

And when the moment is made right,

God can turn our darkness into light.

So trust His heart when you can’t see,

Trust His design, plans and mystery.

His purpose, pleasure, will be done-

For every daughter and every son.

And when at last His answers your faith,

You’ll know why He had made you wait.

Until that day, hold on and stand;

Your life is safe within His hand.

Keep walking, trusting, come what may-

For God is writing your story still today.

And though the world may give you up,

He never will- so rise, shine and look up.

For He who gave you breath each day

Will never cast your precious life away.

His purpose for your life is true;

His plans are greater still for you.
