Two faculty members of Nagaland University’s Department of English, Kohima Campus, Dr. Subhashis Banerjee and Prof. Nigamananda Das, delivered an invited talk on Environmental Humanities at the 12th International Conference on Language, Literature and Culture, being held in Isparta, Turkey, from October 21 to 24, 2026.

Organised in collaboration with Bournemouth University, England, the conference brings together scholars to discuss emerging perspectives and contemporary developments in language, literature and cultural studies.
In his presentation, Dr. Banerjee explored “the ecological turn of human subjectivity” in the poetry of Jibanananda Das. He examined how the poet’s engagement with plants, landscapes and other forms of nonhuman life challenges conventional understandings of human identity and highlights the interconnectedness of human existence and the natural world.
The participation of the two faculty members reflects Nagaland University’s engagement with international academic discourse and its Department of English’s contribution to Environmental Humanities and ecocritical literary studies.
