The Home Department, Government of Nagaland, has notified a state-wide mass social work on November 13 to improve cleanliness, hygiene and the upkeep of public places ahead of the festive season and the Hornbill Festival.

The social work will begin at 6 am, with Deputy Commissioners of all districts designated as overall in-charges responsible for its implementation. They will prepare location-wise work plans and assign responsibilities to government departments, urban local bodies, village authorities and other concerned organisations.

Departments, offices and agencies assigned to specific locations will arrange manpower and disposal trucks to clear collected waste and debris in coordination with the district administration and urban local bodies.

Municipal and town councils will supervise the exercise in urban areas through their respective councillors and encourage maximum public participation. Village councils will organise the social work in rural areas in coordination with local administrative officers.

The Home Department has also directed that all shops and business establishments across the state remain closed until noon on November 13 to facilitate the exercise. Respective local authorities will issue the necessary orders.
