The proposed public general meeting and shutdown called by the CSO Mangkolemba for November 5 has been postponed, with the organisation stating that the meeting would be rescheduled after assessing a suitable date.
In an information shared on Wednesday, the CSO stated that the public general meeting scheduled for November 5 had been postponed due to certain unavoidable circumstances. It added that a fresh date would be announced after due assessment of a proper time.
The development comes after the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Mangkolemba, in an order issued on November 4, declared the proposed general shutdown unauthorised, stating that the CSO had neither sought nor obtained prior written permission from the competent authority.
The proposed shutdown was scheduled to begin at 9 am on November 5 and included a call for the closure of business establishments, schools and offices during the public meeting.
The ADC had directed all government offices, educational institutions, banking services and commercial establishments to remain open and function normally.
The administration had also warned that any individual, group or organisation found enforcing forced closure, obstructing public movement or violating the order would face strict legal action under relevant provisions of the law.
The CSO has stated that the public meeting will be rescheduled, with the fresh date to be communicated later.
