The Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS) has discontinued the provision for emergency approval under the General Category (GC) of the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), while retaining the facility for beneficiaries under the Employee and Pensioner Category (EP).
The revised provisions were notified through an Office Memorandum issued by NHPS on October 31, 2026, under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland.
According to the memorandum, the emergency approval mechanism under CMHIS General Category shall stand discontinued with immediate effect. However, the provision will continue to remain applicable to beneficiaries registering under the Employee and Pensioner Category.
The NHPS has also revised the registration procedure for single-member households under both categories.
As per the revised norms, registration of single-member households shall not ordinarily be permitted.
However, exceptions may be considered in cases where an individual is the sole member of a household, subject to submission of an affidavit sworn before a Notary Public or Magistrate.
The affidavit must be based on a declaration issued by the concerned Village Council Chairman, Ward Chairman or Gaon Bura (GB), as applicable.
Applicants are required to upload the affidavit at the time of registration for verification and approval by the competent authority.
The revised provisions have come into effect from the date of issue of the memorandum.
