The monthly DPDB meeting Mokokchung for the month of June was held on Wednesday at the Deputy Commissioner Conference hall, Mokokchung under the Chairmanship of MLA & Chairman DPDB Mokokchung, Imkong L Imchen.
The proceedings of the meeting began with the Chairman welcoming the members present in the meeting which was followed by a review of the previous meeting minutes. The house reviewed the quality of BSNL services rendered to the public in the district upon which the chairman regretted that the present status of BSNL service was not up to the mark. The house discussed the issue thoroughly and conveyed that the telecom service provider upgrades its services.
On the topic of Nagaland Village Council Act, the house after thorough deliberation approved the translated document of the said Act in Ao Naga language. A 6-member special committee was also nominated to prepare a commentary for the same.
The house then reviewed and discussed the shifting of the NST station from the present location to ISBT Khensa over which the house set the deadline of 30th November for shifting to its new location.
The house also discussed the present status of water distribution in the town by PHED and the house resolved to write to the appropriate authority to take up the matter.
The house further approved the upgradation of Government High School Mokokchung Village to Higher Secondary School; Application for grant-in-Aid for Green Hill School, Yisemyong Mokokchung was also approved.
The house also approved the schemes under LADP for the year 2022-2023 in respect of Mokokchung district. The total amount approved for LADP (Normal) was 837.50 lakhs for 10 Assembly Constituencies; Common Pool fund of Rs. 150 lakhs approved; Iconic Project in 10 Assembly Constituencies worth Rs, 500 lakhs approved. Total funds approved amounted to Rs. 1487.50 lakhs and was recommended for further approval by the state planning board.
Proposal on up-gradation of Information & Publicity Cell at Fazl Ali College Mokokchung and sponsorship for world Music Day 2022 event at Mokokchung put up by Director, Blend In Events, Mokokchung were also examined over which the chairman assured the house to look into the matter.
In a first, local press and media invited
For the first time in the history of Mokokchung, and perhaps in that of Nagaland, MLA & Chairman DPDB Mokokchung, Imkong L Imchen offered invitation to the local press and media fraternity to attend the DPDB meeting. The invitation was conveyed to the Mokokchung Press Club through the District Public Relations Officer, Mokokchung. The DPRO relayed that the chairman extended the invitation in order to promote more transparency.
