Jubilee Memorial College celebrated its 10th Foundation Day at Aongza Ki, commemorating a decade of growth, learning, and commitment to value-based education.
The programme commenced with the JMC Anthem, rendered by the College Choir under the direction of Pastor Yanglo. Dr L Merensangla, the host of the event, warmly welcomed all dignitaries, guests, and attendees. Rev Temsuwati Kichu of MTBA led the gathering in an opening prayer, invoking blessings for the college and its continued journey.
A special media presentation chronicled the college’s humble beginnings, from its first campus below United Church, New Market, to the present-day Aongza campus. It showcased the evolution of the college since its inaugural session on June 16, 2015, highlighting early academic staff, infrastructural milestones, student activities, and touching alumni messages. This segment was coordinated by Supongsangla and Molongnenla.
Principal Dr Imtiwati addressed the gathering with a moving reflection on the early struggles and aspirations of the institution. He acknowledged the college’s humble start with limited infrastructure and faculty and emphasized its transformation over the years. He also announced with enthusiasm the construction of a new and expanded academic block near Alichen, envisioned as the future permanent campus of JMC. This ambitious project reflects the college’s vision to grow into a fully equipped Christian institution dedicated to value-based, skill-oriented education.
Reverend Takatemjen, a member of the Board of Governors, delivered an address titled “Echoes of the Beginning.” He paid tribute to the foundational support of MTBA Church and emphasized the importance of faith, humility, and obedience. He reminded the audience of the college’s original purpose to establish a Christian institution rooted in integrity and values and encouraged the community to prayerfully anticipate the transition to a new campus in the near future.
A musical performance was presented by alumni Toshirenla, Yimkumla, and Limayanger. This was followed by a message from Tamazupong, a member of the first graduating batch, urging current students to strive with purpose and resilience.
Academic achievers of the previous semester were felicitated by Dr Sashimatsung, Dean of Students. Certificates and cash prizes, sponsored by the college faculty, were awarded to meritorious students to encourage academic excellence and healthy competition.
A significant highlight of the event was the official release of Sapientia 2025, the college magazine, by Rev. Moanungsang, who also offered a dedicatory prayer. The JMC Choir followed with a soulful performance titled “Psalm of Hope.”
The keynote address on the theme “Ascend to Greater Heights” was delivered by Professor Temjensosang, Dean of the Research Degree Committee and faculty member of the Sociology Department, Nagaland University, Lumami. Drawing from Talcott Parsons’ AGIL framework, he challenged the college to continue adapting, attaining goals, integrating efforts, and sustaining moral foundations. He urged both faculty and students to strive toward institutional excellence with unity, vision, and integrity.
Vice Principal Akumyala delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests, alumni, organizers, and the college community for their support. The programme concluded with a closing prayer by Pastor Teyalo Seb of Tenyimia Church, followed by a time of fellowship over lunch.
