A Flower More Beautiful Than You
(A Seed of the Queen Rose)
~Dedicated to Mama “Rose” Maureen Wylie
“A flower more beautiful than you?” They asked me.
I smiled and said, “Come, follow me and you’ll see.”
A flower more beautiful than you,
I never tho’t it was possibly true
Yet in God’s garden, fresh and fair,
A gentle bloom now blossoms there.
She seeks no praise, claims no throne,
She simply blooms where she’s sown;
In quiet grace she found her place,
With heaven’s light upon her face.
The rains t’at fall from courts above
Are drops of Mercy, drops of Love;
Each morn’ dew from heaven’s skies
Awakens new hope before her eyes.
The mighty sun with golden flame
Calls her every petal by its name;
Its faithful warmth from dawn till evening
Nurtures her well and keeps her blooming.
No hasty hand, her roots ‘av grown,
She flourishes in her space alone;
Content to bloom, content to be,
A living hymn of love and purity.
Then softly through the fragrant air,
I see the Queen Rose blooming there-
Not in the flesh the world once knew,
But living in t’is beautiful flower anew.
A seed she left, so strong, so true,
Now wears the dawn in every hue;
The Queen Rose whispers from above,
“Go on and bloom with Faith and Love.”
And as I stand with grateful eyes,
B’neath the wide embracing skies,
One truth returns in sweet refrain,
She’ll live on thru’ her seed again.
Every tender bloom that she unfolds
Is worth far more t’an gems or gold;
A flower Heaven itself has grown,
Yet still a blossom all by her own.
If Beauty has a gentler name,
And Grace has a living frame,
Then here she stands for all to see-
A precious blessing from God to me.
A flower more beautiful than you?
Perhaps… and yet I know t’is too:
She blooms b’cause her Love still grows-
As a cherished seed of the Queen Rose.
