The Golden Jubilee celebration of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Noklak, under the theme “A Golden Legacy,” was held on October 25, 2024, at the Multi-Disciplinary Stadium in Noklak.

Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, MLA P. Longon congratulated the teachers, staff, and students of GHSS Noklak on reaching this significant milestone. He also extended his appreciation and respect to the pioneers who had contributed to the institution’s growth and development. “Today, we celebrate this occasion because of the sincere service and hard work rendered by the pioneers of this school,” he said.

As an alumnus and former teacher of GHSS Noklak, P. Longon expressed his immense pride and gratitude for the school’s 50-year journey. He shared that the school had provided him with both the joy of learning and the fulfillment of teaching.

He emphasized that teaching is a noble profession that plays a vital role in shaping individuals, communities, and society as a whole. Teaching, he said, requires a unique blend of knowledge, skills, and personal qualities, and teachers deserve respect, appreciation, and support for their contributions.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary, Longon urged the teachers, staff, students, and stakeholders to work together to restore the school’s good name and regain the trust of the people.

Earlier in the program, Longon unveiled the Jubilee Monolith and released a souvenir to mark the occasion.

In a short speech, GHSS Noklak alumnus Er. Leyang, Additional Chief Engineer and HoD, PHED, shared that the school had produced many successful students and encouraged them to maintain the same spirit in the future. He advised students to follow the right path with a clear mindset, work hard, and remain honest to achieve success in life. He also encouraged them to avoid intoxicants and unethical activities and to show respect for elders, parents, and teachers.

Additional speeches were delivered by EAC Noklak, Bangjunglemba, and the President of the Khiamniungan Students’ Union, Shangchiu.

The Jubilee greetings and facilitation were led by M Ngou from the Planning Board, with a special prayer offered by Rev. Hempao, ES KBCA. Special songs were performed by the School Choir and a Quartet by GHSS students. The vote of thanks was delivered by the principal of GHSS Noklak, Y Kongkhao Lushing, and the program was chaired by Arenkaba and Tsuwing Khiamniungan.

MLA Longon inaugurates traffic island and marketing sheds in Noklak town

MLA P Longon inaugurated a traffic island, marketing sheds, and other projects in Noklak Town on 25th October 2024.

Speaking as the special guest, Longon expressed his sincere gratitude to the Administrator of Noklak Town Council, the Chairman of all wards in Noklak Town, and all stakeholders for the successful and timely completion of the projects.

During the brief program, held at the DC Conference Hall, Longon called for cooperation with the government to ensure the overall development of the district. He encouraged the gathering to maintain a positive mindset regarding developmental activities.

Furthermore, Longon emphasized the importance of land requisition for developmental projects, urging landowners to negotiate and release their land for consideration whenever required.

In his keynote address, SDO (Civil) & Administrator of Noklak Town Council, Vikhoto Richa, highlighted various developmental initiatives undertaken in Noklak Town.

Imkhong, President of All Ward Union, Noklak Town, and Sukoi, GB of Noklak Town, also spoke during the event.
