A District De-addiction & Rehabilitation Centre, sponsored by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, was inaugurated at Thongsunyu village under Tseminyu district on 19th July 2025, with MLA and Chairman of DPDB Tseminyu, Ar. Jwenga Seb, as the special guest.

During the program, Seb emphasized that the new Centre is not merely about providing facilities but is a sanctuary for recovery — a place where broken lives can be restored and individuals can find the strength to begin anew. He stated that substance abuse is not just a personal issue but a social challenge that affects families, communities, and the future of the nation. He further stressed that the centre represents the community’s commitment to protecting the youth and caring for those who have lost their way. Seb also highlighted the importance of reintegration, counselling, medical treatment, therapy, and vocational training in the recovery process.
Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu, Japheth Woch (NCS), who attended as the Guest of Honour, reminded the gathering that the fight against drug abuse is not the sole responsibility of the government or the centre, but a collective responsibility. He said that parents must be vigilant, schools must be proactive, and churches and community organisations must speak out and offer support. Above all, he stressed the need to talk openly about addiction — not with shame, but with courage. He added that the District De-addiction Centre is committed to helping individuals reclaim their lives and live with dignity and purpose.
The inaugural program was chaired by Gwahulo Kent. An introductory note was delivered by Project Coordinator Timothy Thong, followed by a presidential address by Project In-charge Philip Seb, and a short speech by the Rengma Hoho. Words of gratitude were pronounced by Reuben Seb, Project Co-ordinator.
