The recent job advertisement by the Government of Nagaland for filling up of the post of LDA cum Computer Assistant and Driver Grade-2 under District Administration to be conducted by the respective District Level Recruitment Board presents itself as a big opportunity for many of our educated youths. Of the twenty-one posts of LDA cum Computer Assistant, eight openings happen to be for Mokokchung. Eight of our brightest youths have the opportunity to be employed in the government sector here. These thirteen job openings will change the destinies of not just thirteen young people but also of those around them. Through these jobs, there will be thirteen more families in Mokokchung scooped off the subsistence level. Through these thirteen jobs, there will be thirteen households earning a comfortable life. And through these thirteen jobs, a new generation of children will be fed, schooled and raised.
Now, who would dare deny this opportunity to the deserving youngsters? Who would dare discriminate? Is there anybody out there, with a heart of stone, to deny equal opportunity to all the legitimate aspirants? Yes, we are talking about the disgusting, repulsive, and sickening art of backdoor appointments here.
These job openings are not only an opportunity for the teeming and deserving youngsters to earn a job through sheer grit, determination, preparation, will power and prayer, but also an opportunity for the community to see if we are ready to check the despicable act of backdoor appointment. This is an opportunity for the community to cancel out this disgraceful, reprehensible and deplorable practice of backdoor appointment.
If the community is not able to check backdoor appointment in this given opportune time, a job interview that is happening right in our backyard here in Mokokchung, we will never be able to effect any positive change in Kohima. This job interview will determine if we are all talk and no action. If Mokokchung cannot ensure a fair recruitment process at this given opportunity, perhaps we should never ever even utter a single word against corruption ever again.
Meanwhile, the youths are encouraged to appear for the job interview in thousands, demanding fair recruitment process. The bigger the number, the higher the chances for fair recruitment. If there is any doubt or suspicion in the nature of the interview or recruitment process, let the thousands raise their voice in unison against the system.
This is a twofold opportunity for Mokokchung. Let neither be wasted.
