Mokokchung, 15th October (MTNews): In a significant development today, Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), held a pivotal meeting with leaders representing the party from northeastern states, including Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh. The primary agenda of the meeting revolved around discussions regarding the AAP’s prospects and organizational preparedness in these states.
During the meeting, Rajesh Sharma, the party’s in-charge for the Northeastern States, expressed his satisfaction after engaging in a detailed discussion with AAP Convenor Kejriwal. Their discussions encompassed the intricacies of the party’s organization and the upcoming Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections in the northeastern states.
In a statement issued following the meeting, Sharma stated, “It was a pleasure to meet our leader, National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, and National General Secretary (Organization) Sandeep Pathak for a comprehensive discussion about the party’s organization and the upcoming Lok Sabha/Vidhan Sabha elections in the northeastern states.”
State presidents from Arunachal Pradesh (Yamra Taya), Assam (Bhaben Choudhury), Mizoram (Andrew Lalremkima Pachuau), Nagaland (Asu Keyho), and the Co-Incharge of Tripura (Abujam Umapada Luwang) provided insights into the current political scenarios in their respective states.
This development follows the Aam Aadmi Party’s recent announcement of its third list of candidates for the Chhattisgarh Assembly Election. Notably, the AAP and Congress are part of the opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, though both parties have yet to clarify their stance regarding a pre-poll alliance in the upcoming elections, including in Chhattisgarh.
In the backdrop of this political activity, the Election Commission has declared that polling for 20 seats in Chhattisgarh will be conducted in the first phase on November 7, with the remaining 70 seats in the state scheduled for voting on November 17. Similar polling dates have been set for Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana. The vote count across all states will take place on December 3.
Of particular note are the Chhattisgarh elections, which will be held in two phases. With the announcement of poll dates, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force, marking the beginning of the election season. These state elections hold immense significance as they precede the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April and May next year.
