The Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS), Department of Health & Family Welfare, held a programme on Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, on August 20.

The programme focused on improving public awareness of healthcare benefits, eligibility and access to the schemes. NHPS CEO Thavaseelan K stressed the need for accurate information to ensure eligible beneficiaries do not miss out due to misinformation or lack of awareness.
NHPS Deputy CEO Dr Yingnei Wangnao said AB PM-JAY and CMHIS (General) provide Rs 5 lakh health coverage per family annually, while CMHIS (Employees and Pensioners) provides Rs 20 lakh. The schemes offer cashless hospitalisation for secondary and tertiary care, including specified day-care procedures and pre- and post-hospitalisation care. Outpatient services and standalone diagnostic tests are not covered.
CMHIS (General) covers more than 1,950 medical and surgical packages across 27 specialities, with treatment available at empanelled hospitals within Nagaland and across the country.
Deputy CEO Livitoli Sukhalu said the schemes cover three categories: AB PM-JAY, CMHIS (General), and CMHIS (Employees and Pensioners). The initial AB PM-JAY beneficiary base in Nagaland comprises 2,59,468 poor and deprived families.
For assistance, beneficiaries can contact the toll-free helpline 1800 202 3380.
