Mokokchung, 30 April (MTNews): The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), Impur has instructed all the churches and fellowships under its ambit not to participate in the proposed ‘cleanliness drive at Church compound’ initiative of the Nagaland BJP. In a circular, which was widely circulated on social media on Tuesday, ABAM said that it has been carrying out plantation and cleanliness drives and that it would continue to do so. However, it categorically instructed its churches and fellowships not to participate in the BJP initiative.

ABAM also said that, since the proposed BJP Nagaland initiative is a statewide program, the NBCC will be issuing a press rerelease on the matter. As such, it informed the churches and fellowships to understand the position of NBCC and ABAM and cooperate accordingly.

ABAM also acknowledged the churches and fellowships for their effort in maintaining cleanliness and sanctity of the places of worship and encouraged them to continue doing the same.

It may be mentioned that the BJP Nagaland on 27 April issued a notification informing its party functionaries that it would be organizing a tree plantation drive on 4 May, a cleanliness drive at Church compound under respective mandal/booth level on 11 May, and observe death anniversary of Syama Prasad Mukherjee on 23 June.
