A seminar featuring Sonia Khan, the ABRSM Representative for India and Director of the Indian Youth Orchestra, was held on February 11 at Community Hall, Arkong Ward, Mokokchung. The event brought together music teachers, students from various music institutes, and parents for an insightful session on music education and certification.


Golden Crown Theological College has been designated as the official Unproctored Exam Center for Nagaland’s online theory exams under ABRSM. Additionally, face-to-face practical exams are scheduled to take place at the college in November 2025, with examiners from the UK overseeing the assessments. A specialized workshop featuring an examiner from the UK is also planned for November in Dimapur.

ABRSM, recognized as the world’s largest music education body, has been conducting exams for over 150 years in more than 90 countries. Its structured curriculum is widely adopted by academic institutions, and its globally recognized certification provides musicians with a valuable credential to showcase their skills.

The seminar was part of a series of meetings aimed at strengthening music education in the region. Mhathung Odyuo serves as the local representative of ABRSM.
