Kohima, 18 March (MTNews): Nagaland Congress president S Supongmeren Jamir has called out the BJP-led central government, accusing it of delaying the resolution of the longstanding Naga political issue. Speaking out against what he perceives as governmental inertia, Jamir accused that the BJP government in the Centre halted the progress of Naga peace process despite two agreements being in place.

Highlighting a critical factor contributing to the delay, Jamir underscored the absence of opposition within the state assembly. He contended that this absence has created an imbalanced political scenario, hindering efforts to reach a solution beneficial to the Naga people.

According to Jamir, without a strong opposition to represent Naga interests, decisions are susceptible to being swayed by directives from the BJP, thereby compromising the pursuit of justice.

Expressing deep concern over the prevailing circumstances in the state, Jamir lamented the unfulfilled promises of employment opportunities, government schemes, and support for budding entrepreneurs, which have deprived the common people of their rightful benefits.

Talking on his candidature for upcoming Lok Sabha Election, he said that the Congress party is “ready to fight for Nagaland”.

“We are fully committed to advocating for our state. Our voters hold great expectations, and we aim to fulfill them. They will cast their votes in favour of secularism,” the Nagaland Congress president affirmed on Monday (March 18).
