Mokokchung, 10 July (MTNews): Advisor to CM, Abu Metha welcomed Prakash Padukone, Indian badminton champion who dominated the national badminton scene for almost a decade (1971–80) and put India on the sport’s international map.

The advisor gifted him a commemorative book on India’s first Olympic football captain Dr Talimeren Ao; the official Team Nagaland Kit which signifies Unity – Stronger Together; a Coffee Table Book on the South Asian Cross Country Championships hosted in Nagaland; and a medallion on behalf of the Olympic fraternity of Nagaland.

 

“An honour to facilitate and welcome the legend Prakash Padukone to Nagaland,” the advisor tweeted, adding that he was an inspiration to him and generations.

 

“The foundation behind what Indian badminton is today. National Treasure | Living Legend. Thank You so much for your visit, for partnering with us and for believing in our youth. This is nation building. We will work collectively to groom champions of tomorrow,” Metha said while acknowledging Padukone’s visit.
