The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Mangkolemba, has prohibited the movement of heavy vehicles along the Jangpetkong Range Road and Japukong Range Road following extensive damage caused by incessant rainfall.
In an order issued on Thursday, the ADC said the recent rains had severely damaged road infrastructure in the subdivision, posing a significant risk to commuter safety. The continued movement of heavy vehicles, the order stated, could lead to further road subsidence and endanger human life.
While the movement of light and medium motor vehicles will be allowed, heavy vehicles have been barred from using the two roads with immediate effect until further orders.
The restriction has been imposed in the interest of public safety and to facilitate uninterrupted restoration work. The district administration has appealed to the public to strictly comply with the order
