He was addressing the 25th anniversary celebration of the Chakhesang Students Union Guwahati held at NEZCC Shilpgram, Panjabari, Guwahati.

Khamo urged the CSUG community to celebrate the silver jubilee with gratitude while reflecting on the vision and purpose of the union. He encouraged members to reaffirm their commitment to unity, integrity and discipline, and uphold the organisation’s principles and values.

Paying tribute to the pioneers and former leaders of the union, he acknowledged their sacrifices towards unity, peace and progress. Referring to the theme, “Rooted in Our Shared Unity and Striving Beyond Academic Excellence,” Khamo urged students to look beyond personal ambitions and contribute meaningfully to society.

Highlighting the growing competitiveness of the modern world, he said every field, including education, employment, farming and entrepreneurship, now demands dedication and perseverance. He advised students to remain serious in their chosen professions, stressing that academic degrees hold little meaning without competence.

Khamo also encouraged youths to build their lives on strong values, saying the Bible should be “the foundation of life, prayer their strength, and integrity their beauty.”

Expressing concern over challenges faced by the younger generation, he said excessive dependence on the internet and social media was replacing serious learning and deep thinking, while phone-based childhoods were affecting emotional and mental well-being.

Emphasising the need to preserve identity and traditions, he said culture extends beyond folk songs and attire to include values, behaviour, faith and work culture.

He further encouraged students to make use of opportunities available in Guwahati, prepare for competition and explore entrepreneurship while setting positive examples as Chakhesangs, Nagas and Christians.

Neichute Doulo attended the programme as guest speaker, while greetings were delivered by Povozo Soho representing the Chakhesang Students Union and the Naga Students’ Union Guwahati. The presidential address was delivered by Mulezo Dzudo.
