Mokokchung, 11 July (MTNews): Advisor for Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, A Pangjung Jamir, attended the Fisheries Summer Meet-2023 to celebrate “National Fish Farmers Day” on 10th & 11th July in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. He was accompanied by Joint Director, Neithi O- Kuotso and Deputy Director, Dr Rongsen Kumzuk from the Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Nagaland.

The program was attended by ministers and officials from various states and union territories. The Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Parshottam Rupala, delivered the keynote address. Union Ministers of State, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Dr L Murugan and Dr Sanjeev Balyan, also spoke at the event.

 

The Union Minister virtually inaugurated 176 fisheries projects under Pradhan Mantri Matsaya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), out of which 4 projects were also inaugurated from Nagaland. These projects include a Brood Bank in Nathanglu, Mokokchung District; a Live Fish Vending Centre in Kohima District; and two bio-floc units in Tenyiphe, Chumoukedima District and Nihoto, Niuland District.
