Kohima, 30 May (MTNews): Temjenmenba, the Advisor for Transport & Technical Education, inaugurated the Inter-State Truck Terminus (ISTT) in Kohima on Tuesday. The unveiling of the plaque marked the official opening of the terminus.
Addressing the gathering, Temjenmenba expressed his satisfaction that the terminus had been completed and was now ready for operation. He commended the hard work that went into constructing the building, from the drawing to searching for the requisite fund.
Emphasizing that the terminus is a public asset, he urged all users to ensure its proper maintenance. He highlighted that many trucks carrying goods would be using the facility, and called upon the model village to provide a comfortable stay for those coming from distant areas without any inconveniences. Temjenmenba also stressed the importance of the transport department utilizing the terminus effectively to generate revenue for the state.
Noting the significant traffic congestion in the capital town, he emphasized that the terminus would greatly alleviate traffic problems. He requested everyone to encourage people coming from other states to use this facility so that it will not only generate revenue but also highlight the beautiful state to them. Temjenmenba further urged transport and NST officials to come up with innovative ideas to establish the department as one of the highest revenue-generating departments in the state.
Acknowledging the contractor for their commendable workmanship in completing the building within the limited funds and schedule, as per the old rates of PWD 2013, Temjenmenba expressed his appreciation.
In his introductory speech, Shikaho P Yeptho, General Manager of NST, highlighted the project’s significance. He credited the Civil Engineering wing of the Department, led by the Executive Engineer (Const), for effectively executing the project. He expressed gratitude to the NEC officials and all those involved in supervising and releasing funds for the timely completion of the project.
