Mokokchung, 31 August (MTNews): MLA and Advisor, Law and Justice and Land Revenue, TN Mannen (IAS) Rtd on Thursday, 31 August appealed to SKG Rahate (IAS), Secretary of Ministry of Law and Justice, for a special dispensation to allow infrastructure funding of Customary Court construction at village level as a centrally sponsored scheme.

According to an update received here, the discussion also included extending infrastructure development of the Customary Courts in the villages of the State in line with the Gram Nyayalayas Act 2008, which was amended in 2019 for extending to Nagaland and other tribal States of North East India. The secretary has reportedly said that the matter will be examined. The advisor also reminded the Ministry to allow the separate High Court open for Nagaland at the earliest.

 

Further, the Advisor also met Ajay Tirkey (IAS), Secretary, Dept. of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development in New Delhi on 29 August where digitalization scheme implementation in Nagaland was reviewed.

 

As per the reports, certain shortcomings were pointed out in the reports submitted from Nagaland. It was also revealed that the officials of the ministry expressed to visit Nagaland and help its effective implementation, if necessary.
