Advisor for School Education and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, visited the Kohima Municipal Council dumping site at Dzürüzou, Meriema, on February 3, 2026, to review the ongoing legacy waste remediation work being carried out under SBM (Urban) 2.0’s Dumpsite Remediation Acceleration Programme (DRAP). He was accompanied by Mission Director SBM (Urban) Kezhochole Rhetso and officials of the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC).

The Mission Director and KMC officials briefed Dr Yhome on the progress of works aimed at making Kohima a dumpsite-free city, noting that the project is being implemented in accordance with the timeline set by the Ministry.
Dr Yhome urged officials to expedite the works and ensure timely completion of the remediation process. He also appealed to the public to cooperate by adopting proper waste management practices, especially household-level waste segregation, stressing its importance for scientific disposal and environmental sustainability.
