Following the inspection, Zhaleo Rio held a press conference at Niathu Resort in Chumoukedima, where he noted that the majority of drainage systems were in good condition, with only one or two requiring renovations. Expressing his dismay, he highlighted the persistent problem of indiscriminate garbage disposal into these drains, despite ongoing awareness and educational programs. He urged citizens to adopt responsible waste disposal practices, emphasizing that meaningful change can only occur when people take proper care of their surroundings.

Furthermore, the Advisor called upon the district administration to identify any illegal constructions obstructing the drainage systems and take appropriate measures. He emphasized the government’s commitment to preventing unauthorized constructions within the town area.

Additionally, Zhaleo Rio advocated for a “carrot and stick” policy and encouraged ward and colony authorities to promptly address these issues, setting specific timeframes for resolution. He stated, “If it fails, the law will have to be applied, including demolition.”
