The 66 KV Mokokchung-Tuli Transmission Line (TL) restoration has been successfully completed following two days of intensive work under challenging conditions.

“The 66 KV Mkg- Tuli TL restoration work has been successfully completed and charged till upto Mon SS by erecting 1 SP 45 DP,” Er Assumi said.

The collapse occurred deep inside a landslide-prone jungle described by engineers as “a threat to human life,” making restoration efforts hazardous. Executive Engineer of the Mokokchung Transmission Division, Er Hekaito Assumi, told MT  that despite a dedicated 40-member team working from dawn to late night, restoration could not be completed on the first day due to the difficult terrain, multiple landslides, and injuries sustained by workers. The work resumed early the next morning at 5:00 AM and concluded successfully by Sunday evening.

Earlier, it had indicated it would attempt to construct a 4-pole SP 65 structure or bypass the damaged tower if adjacent towers provided the required clearances and support.

Talking to MT, Er Assumi confirmed, “All affected areas have been charged. Light has been restored in all the towns and village feeders.”

The Mokokchung Transmission Division expressed heartfelt thanks to their Head Office for ongoing support and extended special gratitude to the Mokokchung and Changtongya Electrical Divisions for their invaluable assistance.

The successful restoration has brought relief to several towns and villages that had faced blackout for days due to the line fault.
