Kohima, 23 February (MTNews): Addressing the pressing issues of alcohol and cash circulation in the state, Kumar Ramnikant IAS, the DC of Kohima, announced the establishment of a Special Surveillance Team (SST). This declaration came during a coordination meeting held with various enforcement agencies at the DC’s Conference Hall on February 23, 2024, concerning the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election.
Ramnikant outlined the actions to be undertaken upon the election notification, starting with the formation of the SST. Surveillance activities on major and arterial roads will kick off immediately after the election notification, with the SST operations overseen by the DEO and SP in collaboration with General Observer and Expenditure Observers.
Furthermore, strict monitoring of production, distribution, and stock limits of licensed Stockists, as well as the daily transactions of retail sellers dealing in IMFL/Beer/Country Liquor, along with the operational hours of liquor vending shops, will be enforced, he said.
