Nagaland Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir has urged Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu to restore Air India Express services connecting Dimapur with major cities in the Northeast and beyond, citing growing inconvenience to travellers.
In a letter to the Union Minister, Jamir said the Delhi–Kolkata–Guwahati–Dimapur Air India Express service has remained suspended for nearly a year, while the Bengaluru–Kolkata–Guwahati–Dimapur service was also discontinued from August 1.
The reduction in services has further limited air connectivity to Nagaland and neighbouring states, with the MP highlighting the impact on students, patients, business travellers, government officials and the general public.
Jamir has sought the urgent reintroduction of the suspended services or, alternatively, steps to facilitate another airline operating on the Bengaluru–Kolkata–Guwahati–Dimapur–Imphal sector.
He said restoration of the routes would ease travel for people in Nagaland, Assam and Manipur and strengthen air connectivity in the Northeast.
Appealing on humanitarian grounds, the MP urged the Civil Aviation Ministry to accord priority to the matter and facilitate an early restoration of the affected services.
