The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has informed the public regarding an incident that occurred on September 5, 2024, at Mokokchung Park. The altercation involved a group of students in uniform, who were subsequently summoned to the AKM office for a thorough review.

The AKM in a statement said that the students were summoned to the AKM office and after a thorough review; appropriate disciplinary measures were taken based on the severity of their actions. The students were also provided with counseling. Additionally, they signed a bond of good behavior, committing to uphold respectful conduct. The AKM has confirmed that the matter has been resolved with these actions and therefore, has instructed the respective village student unions of the involved parties not to pursue the issue further.

Additionally, the AKM has issued a stern warning to all students within Mokokchung District that any similar conduct will not be tolerated and will result in serious consequences.

Moreover, the AKM has highlighted its concern over the occurrence of ragging practices in some schools and hostels. Stating that ragging is a criminal offense, the AKM has made it clear that such behavior will not be tolerated. Disciplinary actions, both under customary law and legal channels, will be taken against students involved in ragging, it said.
