The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has issued a five-day ultimatum to the Department of School Education, demanding the implementation of High Court and Supreme Court orders concerning the Nagaland Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) teachers of the 2016 batch.

In a memorandum addressed to the Principal Director of School Education, AKM expressed “deep concern regarding the ongoing situation surrounding the Nagaland RMSA teachers of the 2016 batch.” The student body said the delay in resolving the issue has negatively impacted the functioning of 133 government high schools and 367 teachers across the state.

“The continued agitation by the RMSA teachers in the state capital has not only created uncertainty but has also disrupted the educational environment for students, denying us our right to a stable and quality education,” AKM stated. It added that education should remain uninterrupted and that all stakeholders, including the government, must actively work towards resolving the issue.

Calling for immediate action, AKM urged the government to implement the relevant court orders to resolve the pending matters concerning the 2016 batch of RMSA teachers. “We firmly believe that addressing this issue is not only a legal obligation but also a moral one, as it directly affects the future of thousands of students in our state,” it maintained.

The student body has given the Department of School Education five days from the receipt of its letter to act on the demands previously submitted. It cautioned that if the government fails to respond within the timeframe, AKM will be “compelled to pursue alternative courses of action to protect the future and welfare of the students.”

The memorandum further warned that the concerned department would be held responsible for any consequences arising out of the failure to address the issue.

“We urge you to treat this matter with the urgency it deserves and respond immediately to avoid escalation,” AKM added in its appeal.
