Tells government to look into the ‘rationalization’ policy rationally

Mokokchung, October 27 (MTNews): The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has extended support to the Tzürangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (TKM) and has demanded that adequate teachers be deployed to the government schools in Tzürangkong range of Mokokchung district immediately.

Further, AKM has urged the Government of Nagaland to look into the teachers rationalization policy “rationally and professionally” without entertaining any political actors and vested interests, saying that the future of the state and the nation at large is dependent on the teachers and their students.

AKM President, Nungdokyanger Ao and General Secretary, Nekmi Longkumer stated in a press release on Thursday that the recent rationalization of teachers in the State has created a rather “obnoxious environment” especially for the students.

Whatever claims and justifications the government may make, the fact of the matter is that it is clearly evident that the government has conducted the rationalization exercise without proper consultation, verification and scrutiny, the press release read.

“The inappropriate and/or disproportionate posting of teachers in schools is deeply affecting the students where some schools have excess teachers while many schools are running the academic session without adequate (Subject) Teachers and where some schools have hired private teachers sponsored by the community,” it added.

The acute shortage of teachers in many government schools across the State is clearly an “irrefutable truth, a truth the government is not willing to face,” AKM said.

AKM also said that the State Government has “slyly” assented to the demands of the Tzürangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (TKM) with a redeployment order issued by the Directorate of School Education on October 26, but pointed out that, as per the said order, a certain teacher was deployed to two different schools.

“Such is the incongruity of the people manning the Department of School Education in Nagaland!” it remarked.
