The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has extended its support to the ongoing pen down strike organized by the Joint Coordination Committee under the aegis of the Civil and Non-State Services Employees Association (CANSEEA). The AKM stated that the protest aims to uphold the principles of meritocracy for the benefit of the Naga people.
In a statement, AKM expressed objection to the induction of Non-State Civil Service officers into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) without a transparent and merit-based process. The organization emphasized that all right-thinking citizens and responsible organizations should work cohesively to protect the interests of the Naga people.
“We appreciate the prompt action by CANSEEA and acknowledge the affiliated associations that have shown strong support for the initiative. The move not only impacts the present but also ensures a future free from corruption, with an administrative system that requires thorough revamping,” the statement said.
The AKM urged the government to ensure that all IAS inductions are carried out through a rigorous, fair, and transparent selection process, free from nepotism and favoritism, while safeguarding the rights of existing civil servants. They warned that any deviation could undermine the credibility and effectiveness of Nagaland’s administrative machinery.
The student body reaffirmed its solidarity with CANSEEA, calling for a meritocratic, efficient, and accountable civil service that serves the people of Nagaland.
