In compliance with directions issued by the National Human Rights Commission regarding regulation of the weight of students’ school bags, the Directorate of School Education (DoSE), has reiterated strict adherence to existing guidelines by all schools in Nagaland.

According to the directive, all government and private school managements have been instructed to ensure that the guidelines issued by the Nagaland Board of School Education vide Notification No. 55/2021 dated July 19, 2021 are followed in letter and spirit.

The order further stated that wherever textbooks have been prescribed by the State Council for Educational Research and Training, Nagaland or the Nagaland Board of School Education, only those prescribed books must be used for teaching and learning activities in schools.

It was also informed that cases of non-compliance may be reported to the concerned Sub-Divisional Education Officers, Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officers, or District Education Officers for necessary action. If issues remain unresolved, the matter may be escalated to the Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, Kohima, for redressal.

The directive was issued by Director of School Education, Razouseyi Vese.
