Mokokchung, August 28 (MTNews): The Anaki C Village Council has directed the president of Phom People’s Council (PPC), M Shami Angh, to retract his “derogatory remarks” delivered on August 25 at the candlelight vigil service held in Longleng.
“We are deeply hurt on you purported remarks delivered on 25th August, 2022 on the occasion of solidarity candlelight vigil held at Longleng, in connection with the custodial death of one of our esteemed citizen late Henveih Phom (sic),” the village council wrote to the PPC president.
The village council went on to write that the PPC president had “deliberately stated that late Henvieh Phom was died in other state, whereas those concern people having being from different district, were less bothered as if late Henvieh Phom have been killed amongst others like an astray dog and pig (sic).” The village council stated that it was “very much detrimental and unbecoming” and added that it leads to “communal disharmony amongst people of the area and neighboring villages, which has gone viral on entire social media (sic).”
As such, the village council appealed and directed the PPC president to withdraw his “derogatory remarks through social media on or before 29 of August, 2022 without fail.”
“Failure on your part to materialize as stated above, shall invite severe consequences in the next course,” it added.
The letter to the PPC president was appended by seven Anaki C village council members.
