Mokokchung, September 30 (MTNews): Following a meeting that was held on Friday from 1:40 PM to 6:20 PM at the Commissioner & Secretary’s office, officials of the All Nagaland Ad Hoc Teachers Group (ANATG) 2015 Batch and the Department of School Education agreed to constitute a High Powered Committee to examine the case of demand for regularization of service. The meeting was held in the presence of the Commissioner & Secretary and Principal Director of DoSE, ANATG leaders, ANSTA office bearers and department officials.

However, the agreement was not accepted by the general body of the ANATG. A source informed this newspaper that the ANATG members are still continuing with the hunger strike despite the agreement reached today. “When we resorted to hunger strike, it was about ‘No more negotiations, only regularization’,” he said.

Spokesperson of ANATG, Bendangtemsu, who also attended the meeting, said that they demanded regularization of their service like it was done in other departments. However, they were told that it was not possible and, instead, a proposal for instituting a High Powered Committee was put forward. To this, ANATG proposed three pre-conditions for the HPC which were also not accepted. “The agreement for the HPC was eventually signed between the PD and the president of ANATG in the Chief Secretary’s office,” he informed.

ANSTA president then highlighted the agreement to the general body of the ANATG. However, the decision was not acceptable to the teachers. “Hunger strike is still continuing. There will be a meeting tomorrow for a general consensus,” the spokesperson said.

He said that the HPC is to be constituted within a timeframe of one month. “After constituting the HPC, within one year, the HPC will examine and put forward the suggestions for regularization. But the general members are not accepting it,” he informed.
