Mokokchung, October 3 (MTNews): The protesting ANATG-2015 on Monday wrote to the Chief Minister asserting that they reject the formation of the High Powered Committee and reaffirming their demand of ‘immediate Service Regularization’.
The protestors in the representation conveyed to the Chief Minister that the ANATG 2015 Batch had been protesting through democratic means since the 26th of September 2022 due to “non-fulfillment of our demand i.e. Service regularization.” The letter stated that it was disheartening for them to realize that the “ANATG’s matter was left unattended during the first four days of our peaceful sit-in protest.”
“It was only after the decision to change our protest to Hunger Strike on the evening of the fourth day that we were summoned for a meeting on the 30th Sept 2022 by the Commissioner and Secretary, SE & SCERT,” the letter read.
The protestors then claimed that during the meeting, they were offered a High Powered Committee (HPC) formation in order to look into the matter to which the representatives of the ANATG-2015 Batch agreed.
However, they added that, when the representatives of the ANATG conveyed the proposal to all the members of ANATG gathered at Kohima, “the general members rightly resolved to reject the formation of High Power committee (IPC) and agreed and resolved to demand immediate Service regularization’.
The letter further stated that the house has “resolved to submit a direct letter to your honorable table” as they believe only the intervention of the CM could bring a solution to their “sole demand”.
The protestors then informed the Chief Minister “with grief” that the protest was in the form of a hunger strike and that it shall be indefinite till their matter is resolved.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Chief Minister was out of station but the representation was submitted to his office chamber in the Secretariat. The representation was appended by 29 signatories representing all the district units of ANATG-2015 as well as its president and general secretary. Former spokesperson of ANATG, Bendangtemsu, said that the hunger strike would continue even as they await the response from the chief minister’s office.
