The Anatongre Students’ Union observed its annual Village Cleaning Day on August 3, continuing a tradition that has been upheld for the past 20 years. This year’s programme was held under the theme, “Clean Village, Healthy Life.” Students and villagers participated enthusiastically, reaffirming their commitment to keeping the village clean and healthy.
Following the cleanliness drive, a social work programme and a church service were held.
Speaking at the programme, Sanitary Inspector S.J. Limsuthong highlighted the significance of the theme, “Clean Village, Healthy Life.” He said a clean community begins with a clean home and encouraged every family to maintain cleanliness in and around their homes.
In his closing remarks, Limsuthong quoted Mahatma Gandhi: “So long as you do not take the broom and the bucket in your hands, you cannot make your towns and cities clean.”
He reminded the gathering that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility and urged everyone to work together to build a healthy community.
